There are many ways you can support the Peterborough Public Library and make a difference in your community:

Make a Donation

Financial donations

Municipal taxes support our core services, but with your donations we can do even more!

Your donations will be used to enhance our collection, fund special equipment and support special events which will inspire our community to become more literate and engaged.

The Library, as a registered charity, will accept:

  • individual donations
  • corporate donations
  • legacy gifts (in memory of someone)

Donate Now!

We would love to learn about your personal interests and passions, so we can tailor your gift’s designation to the area most meaningful to you – whether that’s children’s early reading programs, technology for teens, or a special book collection.

Please contact us at 705-745-5382 extension 2340 or by email libraryinfo@peterborough.ca with your questions and for more information.

Planned Giving (Legacy Gifts)

Planned giving refers to arranging a donation now to give to the library at a later date. It’s simple, easy to do, and requires only a few minutes of conversation with your lawyer or estate planner.

A planned gift to the Peterborough Public Library will benefit generations to come by:

  • supporting continued collection development,
  • updating our physical spaces to meet the changing needs of our community,
  • offering free programs to support our community,
  • and much more!

Leaving a planned gift to the Peterborough Public Library may give you a significant tax advantage on your estate’s final return. Contact your lawyer or estate planner to discuss your personal circumstances and goals.

Friends of the Library Book Sale

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Friends are not able to hold book sales at this time. You can shop their lobby shelves during library hours for items typically found in their sales.

Items cost: Pay what you can. There is a blue donation box next to the lobby shelves.

The Friends of the Library Book Sales are held 2-3 times per year, and all funds raised support Library collections and programs.

Volunteer

The Friends of the Library need volunteers to help sort donated books throughout the year and to staff their Book Sales.

The Visiting Library Service uses volunteer drivers to deliver books to homebound members in the City of Peterborough.

Join our Teen Reviewers and share your insights on books and media by creating reviews in a variety of formats. You'll earn volunteer service hours. Visit our Programs for Teens page.

 Corporate Sponsorship
The Library has a number of sponsorship opportunities available that range from naming a room, to supporting a program, to purchasing furnishings or technology for the space. Contact our Marketing and Communications Coordinator for more information.
