Donate to the FOL

Donations are gratefully accepted at the Main Library and must be in good condition. Please ensure all donations are in boxes before being placed on the conveyor belt through the small door on the southwest corner of the library off Bethune St. (facing Shoppers Drug Mart)

The donations door at the Main Library is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

These items are accepted for donation:

  • Fiction
  • Non-fiction
  • Large print
  • Audiobooks, music CDs, and DVDs
  • Magazines
  • Books in all languages.

What we cannot accept for donation:

Our Book Sales offer books that are in good condition. Therefore, we don't accept the following items, as they are not saleable and may be sent for recycling or waste disposal.

  • Damaged or mildewed materials, or materials with a strong odour (these are a health hazard).
  • Books marked up in ink, highlighter, or pencil
  • Encyclopedias or other multi-volume sets
  • Textbooks - You may take your textbooks to the receptacle at Bata Library, where they will be redistributed within the community.
  • Periodicals
  • Reader's Digest condensed books
  • VHS or cassette tapes
  • Yellowed books
  • Greatly misshapen books

Note: Every effort is made to keep books out of landfills. Books that are very old, but not considered collectibles, or books that are in poor condition, but still in readable condition, will be redistributed to the free libraries around the city and/or donated to patient art programs at PRHC.
