The Library is committed to providing accessible services and creating an accessible environment. We do our best to provide our materials in alternative formats where they exist. To request an alternative for non-accessible content, please contact the Library directly for assistance. 

For members who are unable to visit the library in person, we offer Visiting Library Services.

The Library has many accessible features:

  • Street level access from the main entrance
  • Ramp access from the side entrance and to the outside return drop box
  • 2 elevators; one at the main entrance and the second inside the library toward the back of the building
  • Furniture and shelving spaced with wheelchair and walker clearance
  • Angled bottom shelves
  • Power door operators
  • Accessible washrooms with safety alarms


We offer a variety of material formats to assist readers with physical and/or learning disabilities.

  • Large Print books and magazines
  • Audiobooks in CD or Playaway format
  • eBooks viewable in large print on eReaders and mobile apps
  • eAudiobooks for downloading to mobile devices and computers
  • DAISY readers  to listen to books and magazines on DAISY formatted CDs (available from CELA)
  • Envoy Connect audiobook players to try. Pre-loaded with titles from the CELA collection
  • DVDs with closed captioning and/or described video
  • Decodable books for children with learning disabilities
  • A small collection of braille children's material


We have a portable handheld magnifier available to assist with reading spine labels or small amounts of text. For larger documents, the CCTV can be used.


Our public computers have the option for a large print interface, with some stations having a large print keyboard available. We have one dedicated accessible computer which features a trackball mouse, screen magnification software, screen reader software, and a scanner with optical character recognition software.
