The Peterborough Collection

Located in the quiet study area at the back of the library, the library's local history collection - also known as the Peterborough Collection - includes books, newspapers, maps, cemetery records, directories and other historical material about well known people, organizations and institutions of the city and county of Peterborough. Some material from surrounding counties is also included.

Browse the Peterborough Collection or ask for help at the Information Desk.

If you are not able to come to the library, you may submit a local research request for additional help for a fee.

Many people use the online resource Ancestry to look for information on their family trees. The library has a subscription if you would like to try this website for free.

Our partner organization, the Kawartha Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society (KBOGS), may be able to help you with your family history research. Email KBOGS to book an appointment with one of its members.
