We want to connect local readers with local authors.

The Local Authors Collection features a selection of locally-produced, self-published, or independent press works of fiction, non-fiction, music, or movies. Our Children's Area holds materials for a children's audience.

If you live or work in the city or county of Peterborough, you can make a submission using our Local Authors form.

Indie Author Project

Indie Author Project LogoSubmit your eBook to the Indie Author Project (IAP), a royalty-free, non-exclusive publishing platform that makes eBooks available to public libraries!

This service is free for all authors and you are welcome to submit as many of your books as you would like. Before you submit, please make sure that your book is:

  • A PDF or an ePUB file (ePUB is preferred)
  • In the English language
  • An original work to which you own the rights

Once submitted, your book will be passed through the review process, and you will be notified within 4–6 weeks if your book has been chosen.

All submissions, regardless of audience or genre, may be included in your local library's collection if you choose. Your book will be accessible for local readers through Biblioboard. Check out the Local Author curated collections for Adults, Young Adults, and Children's.

Works submitted will also be considered for Indie Author Project Select. Work accepted at this level will be made available to libraries across the US and Canada. Authors are also eligible for royalties through various library eBook platforms such as cloudLibrary, OverDrive, and Axis 360. Authors need to opt in for the royalty program.
