The Peterborough Public Library offers a variety of free literacy-based programs for children of all ages throughout the year.

During the COVID-19 Library Closure, we are committed to staying connected with our community. While we have hit Pause on our regular programs listed here, you can now enjoy our Online Programs and Summer Programs from the comfort of your home! 

Baby & Me 

This is special one-on-one time for babies 0 to 12 months and their parents. Enjoy songs, stories, bounces, tickles and rhymes together.

Baby & Me runs in our Story Corner from 10:30 am to 11:00 am on Thursday mornings with winter, spring and fall sessions.

Stay and play after the program from 11:00 am to 11:30 am. Toys will be available for babies while you enjoy time with other parents/care providers.

Toddler Time

Toddlers 12 to 24 months and their caregivers will share in active songs, stories, rhymes and play in Toddler Time.

Toddler Time runs in our Story Corner on Friday mornings from 10:30 am to 11:00 am with winter, spring and fall sessions.

Stay and play after the program from 11:00 to 11:30 am. Toys will be available for toddlers, while you enjoy time with other parents/care providers.

Registration required. Space is limited.

Drop In Story Time

We will share stories, songs, puppets and more with you and your preschooler aged 2 to 4 years. Designed to help your child's imagination and attention span grow. Children and adults are encouraged to participate together.

Drop In Story Time runs in our Story Corner from 10:30 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday mornings with winter, spring, summer and fall sessions. No registration required.

After School Programs

We offer a variety of after school aged programs throughout the school year. These programs inspire kids to create, learn new skills, meet new friends and have fun!

‘Tween the Pages Book Club

Read the book before we meet and discuss the book together with themed crafts, fun activities and games. The first 12 kids to register will receive a free copy of next months book!
‘Tween the Pages Book Club runs in our Story Corner Thursday at 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm once a month.

PJ Story Time

Wear your pajamas and grab your family, friends and favourite stuffy for an evening of interactive stories, songs and rhymes during PJ Story Time. Always includes a fun activity for you and your child.

PJ Story Time runs in our Story Corner from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in the evening once a month. No registration required.

KIDS Try it Tuesdays

Try it Tuesdays gives you a chance to try something new without committing to anything more than an hour or two at the library. Unless noted, they are all ages drop in events, while supplies last. Children under 5 must be with a caregiver.

March Break Events

If you are looking for ways to keep your kids busy during March Break, we offer fun, educational and free programs for all ages, all week long!

Summer Programs and TD Summer Reading Club

TD Summer Reading Club returns online this year and is a great way to keep kids reading and exploring books all summer long. Kids will be able to register and participate online through the TD Summer Reading Club website, which will launch on June 15, 2020.

 

Earn virtual awards and digital badges that recognize reading achievements. Explore new reads, complete activities, play games, write stories, jokes, reviews and more! 

 

Starting June 28th check out the Weekly Themed Activities featured on our website. Each week we’ve picked a fun theme and put together a week’s worth of  activities designed to engage children of all ages. You can enjoy selected book lists, crafts, challenges, recipes, websites, games and more that are easy and fun to do at home.    

 

Watch for some cool Curbside Crafts this summer. Pick up the materials to “take and make” fun crafts at home. These will be available while supplies last.
