To ensure the safety of our members and staff during COVID-19, all of our Winter programs will be delivered through a variety of online platforms or as take-aways from the library.

The Peterborough Public Library offers a variety of free literacy-based programs for children of all ages throughout the year. See our regularly occurring programs below, or check out our Events Calendar for a full list of library programs.

Baby & Me

baby laying on pink blanketSpend some special one-on-one time with your baby and connect to other families and babies over Zoom. 

Each week Laura will lead songs, stories, bounces, and rhymes designed to support your child's development and learning. 

Each registrant will receive a box of materials to use for the duration of the program, to help you and your baby participate and have fun. 

The winter session of this program is now full.

Story Time @ Home 

young boy moving arms in front of computerSubscribe to receive weekly Story Time @ Home emails from Kelly!  Each email will have a video of stories, fingerplays, drama, felt games and songs, all based on a theme drawn from the book of the week! 

We will also include links to activities, craft ideas, and other library resources to help encourage a love of books and reading in children ages 2 through 4 years

PJ Family Story Time

Put on your PJs, collect your stuffies, and cue up the computer, it's time to gather as a family and take part in a PJ Family Story Time over Zoom! 

We will share stories, rhymes and songs that will help everyone feel cozy and connected. After that, we will work on a special craft together!  

Take & Make activity kits will be available for pick up at the Main Check-Out Desk the week before the program. 

All Ages

When: Tuesday, March 23, 2021 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Registration begins Tuesday, March 9th at 10:00 am.

Read Aloud Chapter Book Club 

Let's read a book together! Subscribe today to receive the first installment in the series of Read Aloud Chapter Book Club emails.  These will include a video of Kelly reading a chapter or two aloud and some fun activities and library resources based on themes drawn from the book.

Grab & Go Craft Kits 

craft supplies on white backgroundVisit the library every Saturday and bring home some extra fun with our Grab & Go Craft Kits for kids. Each kit contains the materials and instructions you need to make a fun craft or an activity at home.

Kits will be available Saturday mornings, on a first-come-first-serve basis, at the Main Check-Out Desk starting January 2, 2021. Curbside Pickup protocols apply.

Tween Book Club 

Each month we will meet virtually for some laughs and fun discussions around our monthly book club title. This program is a great way to get your Tween reading and talking about books! 

Ages: 9-12 years

When: One Thursday each month, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on Zoom

Spend your summer holiday with the library. Over the summer we offer a variety of programs, performances and free special events for families with children of all ages.

Stop the summer slide by signing up for the TD Summer Reading Club, Canadas largest bi-lingual reading program. This program encourages children of all ages to continue reading throughout the summer with activities, challenges and prizes!
