If we don't have a title you are looking for, we can help you borrow it from another library through an interlibrary loan. 

What you can borrow

You can borrow the following types of items through our Interlibrary Loan Service. Items published within the past two (2) years are not available for Interlibrary Loan.

  • Books - regular print and Large Print
  • Audiobooks for people with visual impairment
  • Articles from newspapers, magazines, and journals (there will be a printing charge for hard copies, digital scans are available at no charge)
  • Microfilm, including items from the Archives of Ontario

Request a title

Requests are limited to two (2) items per month.

You can request a title at any of our Information Desks, in person or by phone (705-745-5382 ext 2340).

All items are shipped to our library and can be picked up at the Main Branch.

We will look to fill your Interlibrary Loan request from another library within Ontario. 

We are not able to place an Interlibrary Loan request for any title that we currently have in our catalogue.

Fees and fines

Most items are available free of charge.

  • You will have 7 days to pick up you interlibrary loan item once it comes in. There will be a $7 charge if you do not pick up your item in 7 days.

  • Overdue fines are $1 per day.
  • Photocopying fees apply for the printing of articles from newspapers, magazines, and journals.
  • Charges for lost or damaged items are determined by the original lending library.
Renew an item

Please check the pink Interlibrary Loan slip on your borrowed item to see if your item can be renewed.

To request a renewal, complete the ILLO renewal form or contact our Information Staff at least seven (7) days before the due date. 

We are only able to request a renewal from the lending library once (1 time).
Repeat a request
You can repeat a request for identical items after a 6-month period. Some items may not be available for a repeat loan depending on where they come from.
Cancel your request
You can cancel a request by email or by phone (705-745-5382 ext 2340). Cancellations need to be made before the item ships from the lending library.
