There are many ways you can support the Peterborough Public Library and make a difference in your community:

Make a Donation

Financial donations

Municipal taxes support our core services, but with your donations we can do even more!

Your donations will be used to enhance our collection, fund special equipment and support special events which will inspire our community to become more literate and engaged.

The Library, as a registered charity, will accept:

  • individual donations
  • corporate donations
  • legacy gifts (in memory of someone)

Donate Now!

We would love to learn about your personal interests and passions, so we can tailor your gift’s designation to the area most meaningful to you – whether that’s children’s early reading programs, technology for teens, or a special book collection.

Please contact us at 705-745-5382 extension 2340 or by email libraryinfo@peterborough.ca with your questions and for more information.

Donations to the Collection

The Peterborough Public Library does not usually accept donations for the collection; but items that are unique, hard-to-acquire, or are in high demand will be considered. Please fill out the Material Donation Request Form if you feel strongly that we should accept your donation.

Before filling out the form, please review the Criteria for Selection of Library Materials found in the Materials Selection Policy.

Planned Giving (Legacy Gifts)

Planned giving refers to arranging a donation now to give to the library at a later date. It’s simple, easy to do, and requires only a few minutes of conversation with your lawyer or estate planner.

A planned gift to the Peterborough Public Library will benefit generations to come by:

  • supporting continued collection development,
  • updating our physical spaces to meet the changing needs of our community,
  • offering free programs to support our community,
  • and much more!

Leaving a planned gift to the Peterborough Public Library may give you a significant tax advantage on your estate’s final return. Contact your lawyer or estate planner to discuss your personal circumstances and goals.
