Welcome back to the library!

We are so excited to have reopened our doors as of August 25, 2020. To ensure we are meeting the requirements of the Province's Stage 3 guidelines for reopening, service will continue to look a little different while we work towards our new normal.

Curbside Pickup ended on Saturday, August 22, 2020 to allow for the library to reopen.

This is what you can expect as of August 25, 2020:

  • Please enter and exit the building through our main doors off Aylmer st. This is an accessible entrance with access to an elevator to reach both the main level and the Children's Area of the library.
  • Visitors will be asked to wear a face covering. The library respects that not everyone is able to wear a face covering but they are an additional measure that can help us protect each other.
  • A maximum of 50 people are allowed in the building at any given time, which means there could be a line formed outside the entrance if we are at capacity. We will be using a 1-in-1-out method to track people in the building.
  • Library members can browse and check-out our collection but we ask that you try to limit your time spent in the library to allow for others to enter.
  • High-touch point and shared touch point areas including the children's toys, our study rooms and most of our seating will not be available at this time. Room rental spaces and the cafe will also remain closed at this time
  • Public computers will be available for use on a first-come-first-serve basis in 30 minute blocks. We will ask you to limit to one session per day.
  • All items returned to the library will be placed in a 7-day quarantine before being re shelved. You  may notice fines on your account during this time but they will be removed once items have been checked back in. If you have any questions about your account please contact us.

Everyone will be required to self-assess before entering the building. If you are feeling unwell or have symptoms of COVID-19 you should visit an assessment center and follow their recommendations prior to entering this building. If you are experiencing severe symptoms call 911.

FAQ

Q: If I have fines on my account, can I still borrow material from the library?

A: YES! The library has removed any blocks on accounts so that everyone with a PPL library card can access our online items during this challenging time.

Q: I don’t have a library card, what can I do?

A: If you aren't already a library member, fill out our online membership form to request a library card and someone will get back to you in 48-72 hours.

Q: Can I still donate my books to the Friends of the Library?

A: The Friends of the Library are not accepting donations at this time. Once they start back up and are comfortable sorting books while remaining safe, they will once again be able to accept donations. You can follow the Friends on Facebook or subscribe to updates on the FOL website.
