The Peterborough Public Library will be closed to the public until further notice.  This decision was made in response to the recent measures implemented by the Province of Ontario with regards to COVID-19 (coronavirus). We are committed to providing everyone in the City of Peterborough access to our online books, audiobooks, and streaming services while the building is closed. If you don't already have a library card and you live in the City of Peterborough, please reach out to us and we will set one up for you.

Q: Does the library offer curbside pickup?

Q: What if I have books out?

A: Due dates on all items borrowed before March 13, 2020 were extended until June 16, 2020. Regular loan periods will apply for all material borrowed as of June 3, 2020. 


Q: Can I still return books once I am finished with them?

A: Yes, our book return is still open! Feel free to bring your books back when you’re done. Or hang on to them. No late fines will be charged while we are closed.

 Q: I put a book on hold, will I be able to pick it up later?

A: As of June 3, 2020, you will be able to borrow it through our Curbside Pickup service. Please watch for your hold pickup notification for more information. 


Q: If I have fines on my account, can I still access online books and movies?

A: YES! The library has removed any blocks on accounts so that everyone with a PPL library card can access our online items during the shut down.

Q: I don’t have a library card, what can I do?

A: If you aren't already a library member, fill out our new membership form to request a library card and someone will get back to you in 48-72 hours.


Q: Are you still running programs like the Tax Clinics and Living and Aging Well at the Library?

A: No. All in-person programs, meetings and other events are cancelled until the Library reopens. 


Q: I have booked at room at the library, can I still use it?

A: No, unfortunately we will be cancelling and fully refunding all bookings made during the time of our closure. 


Q: Can I book at room at the library for a future date?  

A: Our Room Rental service is currently suspended until the library reopens. If you would like to book a room for later in the year please contact us at libraryrooms@peterborough.ca


Q: Can I still donate my books to the Friends of the Library while the library is closed?

A: No, the Friends will not be accepting book donations until the library reopens.
