Interlibrary Loan Self Serve Requests

InfOntario logo

Registered users can make Interlibrary loan requests through the  InfOntario Interlibrary Loan Service

To register and use this system, please send an email with the subject "Interlibrary Loan Registration" to illo@peterborough.ca. Please include your full name, home phone number and library card number.  You will receive an email from us with your login information, usually within 2-7 days. You must have a valid Peterborough Public Library card, in good standing to use this service.

Making Requests

Once you are registered with the INFO Zportal, you may make your own requests and cancellations. If you experience difficulty in placing your request(s) or logging-in to the INFO Ontario website, please contact the Information Desk at 705-745-5382 ext. 2340

You can watch a quick tutorial to help you navigate the system, or follow the basic instructions below. For more detailed procedures along with screen shots, please see the online manual (or print it out for your referral).

  1. Select Sign In and enter your User ID. This is the last seven numbers of your library card. If you have had your library card replaced since registering, the number may be different. You may always ask at the Information Desk if you have any questions.
  2. Enter your password - this will be assigned to you by our Interlibrary Loan Department.
  3. Choose Peterborough Public Library as your library location from the Authentication Service drop down menu.
  4. Click on Log In.

Search for the item you want to request

  1. Select Standard or Advanced Search.
  2. Note the "Current Profile" drop down menu. You will use these search profiles to do your searching.
  3. ALWAYS select SOLS Rideau South as your initial search under the "Current Profile" drop down menu.
  4. Enter keywords from the title, and/or author.
  5. Select Details to verify this is the item you want. Please insure that you choose a record with an ISBN number listed in the record. This is how the system sends the requests to another library. Without an ISBN it will get caught up and have to be handled manually.
  6. Select Get it! to place the request. Item details are automatically entered in the Interlibrary Loan form.
  7. Complete the form by selecting your preferred Pickup Location from the drop down menu at the bottom of the form.
  8. Click Request to send your request.
  9. There is no need to print the request as you can view the status of your requests at any time using the My Requests link.
  10. Sign out when you are finished.

If you don't find any matches searching SOLS Rideau South profile, try SOLS Bruce/Wellington or SOLS Toronto/Kawartha/401 Area.

Creating Requests

If you have a unique request (such as a microfilm) or cannot find your item:

  1. Select the Create Request option on the left hand menu bar.
  2. Fill in as much information as you have available, especially the ISBN for books.
  3. Click Submit.

Checking the Status of your Interlibrary Loan

Once you have made a request you can check the status by signing into your Zportal account. You will be able to tell when the request is en route (although this can take a couple of weeks depending where the item was found) and when your item is available for pick up.

Please do not resubmit your request.  If you have any questions about the status of your loan you can contact our Information Desk at 705-745-5382 ext. 2340
